$357,500 granted to charities in Envision Financial region in 2015

First West Foundation Donates to 33 Envision Region Charities — improving lives, building capacity in the Lower Mainland, Fraser Valley and Kitimat.

The First West Foundation is pleased to announce the 2015 recipients of the Envision Financial Community Endowment Grants. This year grants in the Envision region are funding projects supporting vulnerable populations. Additionally, recognizing the opportunity to strengthen the important work being done in the social services sector, grants have also been provided to support organizational development initiatives such as leadership training and workshops to help improve the skills and capacity of staff or volunteers.

Thirty-three organizations were selected to receive grants. These include:

  • Abbotsford Community Services (Mission) – Dating Violence & Sexual Abuse Prevention Programs $5,000

  • Abbotsford Community Services (Abbotsford) – Strengthening Community’s Capacity to Respond to Abuse $12,180

  • Abbotsford Hospice Society – Bereavement and Palliative Volunteer Training & Support $10,000

  • ACCESS Youth Outreach Services Society (Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody) – Youth Engagement Worker $10,000

  • Ann Davis Transition Society (Chilliwack) – Parenting Time $15,000

  • Big Brothers Big Sisters of Langley – Community Based One-to-One Mentoring Matches $10,000

  • Big Sisters of BC Lower Mainland (Delta) – Delta Mentoring Program $6,000

  • Board of Education of School District #36 (Surrey) – Community Exposure $3,500

  • Boys and Girls Clubs of South Coast BC (Delta) – Active Living Program $20,000

  • Canuck Place Children’s Hospice (Abbotsford) – Nursing Lounge and Family Library Furnishings $11,000

  • Chilliwack Community Services – Nurturing Fathers Program $7,000

  • Chilliwack Learning Community Society – Volunteer Tutor Program $9,750

  • Chilliwack Society for Community Living – iConnect Staff Training Lounge $10,000

  • Crisis Intervention & Suicide Prevention Centre of BC – YouthinBC.com $ 10,000

  • Kateslem Youth Society (Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody) – After School Program $5,000

  • Kitimat Child Development Centre – Enhancing Financial Literacy $8,800

  • Langley Children’s Society – Organizational Development and Support $8,000

  • Langley Community Services Society – Immigrant Parents Learning Supports (IPALS) $7,000

  • MADD Canada Metro Vancouver (Envision Region)– 2015-16 School Assembly Program$5,000

  • Mission Hospice Society – Volunteer Palliative Program $4,000

  • Mission Search and Rescue – Command Vehicle Support $8,000

  • Reach Child and Youth Development Society (Delta) – Building for Children Together $25,000

  • Rock Solid Foundation (Maple Ridge) – WITS Maple Ridge Program $12,000

  • SHARE Family and Community Services (Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam Port Moody) – English Practice Groups $10,000

  • Surrey Crime Prevention Society – Community Safety Youth Leadership andMentorship Program $15,000

  • The Lookout Emergency Aid Society (Surrey) – Critical Incident Debriefing Mentorship Program $10,000

  • United Way of the Fraser Valley (Abbotsford) – Abbotsford Harvest Box and Bulk Buying Club $20,000

  • Westcoast Family Centres Society (Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam Port Moody, Maple Ridge) – Kids Have Stress Too! - $7,500

  • YWCA Metro Vancouver (Surrey) – That’s Just Me and Boys 4 Real Program $20,000
